A boutique business hotel specializing in conscious, yet luxurious, hospitality.

Business travelers always look for hotels that make their stay as easy and accessible as possible. However, often a focus on simplicity, function and ease can mean a serious lack of luxury and unique elements. Enter 11 Howard in the heart of SoHo, New York. Stumbling across this boutique hotel, we were delighted by its creative approach to business hospitality. The hotel is at once practical yet elegant, simple yet distinctive, and relaxing yet vibrant.

From a business perspective, the way that 11 Howard utilizes their common areas facilitates a useful space with which to conduct meetings and get work done. The hotel has reinvented social spaces, making them multifunctional and moving them to the second floor, as true extensions of the guest rooms. With plentiful tables and chairs, The Library is an ideal place to work, meet, sip tea in the afternoon, or unwind with a cocktail in the evening. The Library features wide-plank wood floors, plush area rugs, and furniture collected from around the world. Images by renowned Japanese photographer Hiroshi Sugimoto grace the walls.

The dining and leisure at the hotel are also wonderful. The new and acclaimed Le Coucou restaurant is on property, a collaboration between Stephen Starr and internationally acclaimed chef/restaurateur Daniel Rose of Spring and La Bourse et La Vie in Paris. The consummate French experience, Le Coucou features a menu of simple yet refined French dishes in a unique setting designed by Roman and Williams. 11 Howard’s bar and lounge, the blond, is a stylish place to start off your evening or meet a colleague for a drink. With arched windows facing Howard Street, dark woods, subdued colors, low lighting and gold accents, the bar lends a seductive edge to the space, and bronze animal masks glint in the shadows.

You know how much we at BHL focus on giving back to the community and charitable causes, and this is one of the things we like most about 11 Howard – its guiding principle is “conscious hospitality.” Each aspect of the hotel—from design to location to amenities— is approached with awareness, purpose, and thoughtful consideration. This consciousness reaches beyond the property to the community, as the hotel gives back to causes they believe in. When guests book directly with 11 Howard, they donate a portion of the money to The Global Poverty Project, an education and advocacy organization working to increase the number and effectiveness of people taking action to see an end to extreme poverty.
