mastros_ocean_club2A Night of Decadence

by Sarah Cefalia

Imagine an ultra high-end, coastal version of a steakhouse. The super-hip SoCal atmosphere of Mastro’s Ocean Club manifests this vision into reality.  The trendy “O” Bar features live entertainment nightly and is a great place to people and style watch. The cuisine offers the finest in seafood and steaks, with martinis served on dry ice. Our server Marco passionately describes the overall theme of Mastro’s as indulgence. “People gear up and think about coming all week. The dining experience is over the top, the best you can get – decadent and luxurious.”

We start the night with the most amazing ahi tuna tartare. The ahi is fresh with a spicy kick while the wonton crust gives the prefect crunch, melting in your mouth and leaving you wanting more.

Our next appetizer, the famous seafood tower, is tailor made for the table depending on what type of seafood your group enjoys. Endless amounts of shrimp, crab, lobster and oysters completely satisfy my taste buds. Unsure how I can enjoy anything more, our server recommends the mong chong served with a sake citrus ponzu sauce and the 18-ounce bone-in filet. The fish is tender, flakey and moist, cooked to perfection, and the filet is superb. Side dishes include steamed asparagus with hollandaise sauce and incredible crab gnocchi in a cream sauce, delightfully rich and satisfying. We finish with their famous butter cake, served with vanilla bean ice cream and whipped cream. All I can say is, wow, a perfect ending to an incredible dining experience.

I have yet to find a restaurant that competes with Mastro’s standard of excellence. Whether you are a local or a tourist, entertaining clients or catching up with friends, Mastro’s Ocean Club has everything you need: delicious food, fabulous location on the coast, cool atmosphere and amazing service. Enjoy a night of decadence
